Virsa Objectives

VIRSA would like suggest the following to the South African government:

  • MAIN OBJECTIVE: Pressurise the government into accepting its responsiblity as guardian of the citizens of South Africa.
  • Fix up the judicial system
  • Have tracking devices for awaiting trial or bail prisoners, instead of keeping them in jail. This will free up a lot of space.
  • Have visible policing, with trained policemen on bicycles in the streets.
  • Better forensic labs with forensic labs in all major towns and cities.
  • More well trained detectives
  • Train more prosecutors and judges
  • Better rehabilitation of criminals when they are released
  • Introduce the 3 strikes rule as per USA.
  • Put up a 3 meter high wall around the South African borders so only legal visitors may go through
  • Have better customs controls at borders and airports.
  • Harsh sentences for drug and human traffickers
  • Road blocks all over the country specifically looking for illegal weapons.
  • House to house searches in crime hotspots.

We have compiled a comprehensive mandate that was presented to the government. We are ordinary South Africans and do not claim to be criminologists, lawyers nor law enforcement consultants. If you are able to contribute, please email your thoughts and suggestions to crime@virsa.org.za
